Day 5

by Aaron & Jennifer Smith

Sacrificial Love

Jesus gave everything for me

He suffered, died for me, for us. Not because we are deserving but because of his love for us.

That kind of love has power that can transform us.

The close I become to God the more of my character becomes like His. The Holy Spirit and scriptures lead me through the journey of transformation. This kind of closeness with God allow me to begin to love others and specifically my wife with that same kind of sacrificial love.

Scriptures

  • For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.

  • He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

  • Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

  • Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

  • Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.

  • This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

  • We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
