Day 7

by Aaron & Jennifer Smith

Set Yourself Apart

We are Like Gold

Found in the dirt, washed, put into fire to separate the impurities until it is pure gold.

Learn to let go of those impurities and be transformed.

The Holy Spirit will lead us through each season and challenge and we will become more refined and holy.

The more we begin to practice holiness and deny the flesh the more we grow closer to Jesus and begin to relfect his character.

Scriptures

  • 10 For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.

11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

  • “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord . “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

  • 6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

  • But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.

  • Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.

  • If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.

  • This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

  • Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart.

  • These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

  • Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

  • I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
